I am a trauma-informed art therapist who believes healing often begins beyond words, in the quiet language of the body and the act of creating.
Art therapy can be especially supportive for those:
-living with trauma and mental health challenges
-navigating life transitions
-understanding their thoughts and behaviours in relationships
-seeking to rediscover their sense of identity.
My practice integrates art-making with mindfulness and somatic practices by inviting clients to notice sensation, breath, and presence as part of the healing process.
I gently hold space where experiences can be revealed in their own time.
My practice is inclusive and culturally sensitive. I offer an affirming space for LGBTQ+ clients, where all identities and relationship styles are welcomed and respected.
I have walked alongside survivors of interpersonal violence, offering a space rooted in safety, choice, and deep respect.
I have supported neurodivergent clients by honoring diverse ways of sensing, communicating, and expressing.
Through creativity, we may discover or renew our resilience, self-compassion, and connection for healing that unfolds at a pace guided by you, the client.

Nikki Featherstone is a Registered Canadian Art Therapist who enjoys lifelong passions for art, healing, spirituality, cats, trees, and the sacredness of the everyday. Her therapeutic approach is Feminist, Anti-Oppressive, Person-Centered, Trauma Informed, and Spiritually Integrated.
Nikki specialises in including the spiritual components of the human experience, and welcomes all faiths and/or spiritual beliefs into the spaces she creates.
Nikki authored an e-book titled, Shapeshifter: One Woman’s Journey through Creative Spiritual Transformation, which details her own healing journey and the development of the Shapeshifting Art Therapy process.
She also uses a mixture of different modalities, such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and all types of creative expression in her work. All art making is supported and celebrated in art therapy, which focuses on expression rather than technique/product; therefore, no art experience is required for participants to benefit from the journey.
Safety and Respect are central to Nikki’s approach to therapy. She creates and holds space in a way that allows each person to be exactly who they are, held in non-judgement and acceptance. Nikki will meet you where you are on your personal Path, and walk alongside you as a Guide while you journey into your internal landscapes to find the healing that is right for your unique Spirit.
Session rate: $120. Time zone: Mountain Standard Time.

I offer a strengths-based, non-pathologizing approach. I believe problems are created by insecure attachments and maintained by the unhealthy relationships which subsequently develop.
I hold a strong conviction that working collaboratively empowers those who need to be seen, heard and validated. I believe the person-centred core conditions of empathy, non-judgmental warmth and congruence facilitate change and Systemic theory informs me of the wider context of client issues.
I integrate Internal Family Systems theory into my Art Therapy practice, holding the belief that we are made up of parts and that problems occur when the internal system is in conflict. Cognitive behavioural theory influences my understanding of how beliefs are formed and maintained. I concur with neurobiological evidence that trauma is held in the body and that the neuroplasticity of the brain means creating new neural pathways through positive attachments is possible.
I believe that connection and compassion facilitate growth and healing. I am intent on holding hope and offering empowerment in addressing the impact of the past on the present.
I am mother of four and have worked in various roles within the care profession for the past 30 years, including as a senior residential social worker in a therapeutic unit for severely abused children.
